Port Forward between VLAN's

Here's an example using HUAWEI Layer-3 Switch. Your particular model or brand may differ, but the basic concept should apply. Consult the switch MFG for additional details/support.

Setting Port Forwarding:

The easiest way to implement Port forwarding (Layer 3 forwarding) is as below:

1) Put Port 1 0/0/1 on VLAN 10 for example and put Port 2 on VLAN 20 for example

2) Configure IP address for VLAN 10 interface 10.10.10.1

3) Configure IP address for VLAN 20 interface 192.168.1.10

4) If the two ports are on the same switch they will be able to communicate, but for any PC or device on VLAN 10 need to set a gateway 10.10.10.1 to be able to communicate with 192.168.1.XX network and for any PC or device on VLAN 20 needs to set a gateway 192.168.1.10 to be able to communicate with 10.10.10.XX network.

Config Huawei Switch Example: 10.10.10.1/24 to 192.168.10.1/24

1.  HUAWEI> system-view

2.  [HUAWEI] sysname SwitchA

3.  [SwitchA] vlan batch 10 20

4.  [SwitchA] interface gigabitethernet 0/0/1

5.  [SwitchA-GigabitEthernet0/0/1] port link-type access

6.  [SwitchA-GigabitEthernet0/0/1] port default vlan 10

7.  [SwitchA-GigabitEthernet0/0/1] quit

8.  [SwitchA] interface gigabitethernet 0/0/2

9.  [SwitchA-GigabitEthernet0/0/2] port link-type access

10. [SwitchA-GigabitEthernet0/0/2] port default vlan 20

11.[SwitchA-GigabitEthernet0/0/2] quit

  1. [SwitchA] interface vlanif 10
  2. [SwitchA-Vlanif10] ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0
  3. [SwitchA-Vlanif10] quit
  4. [SwitchA] interface vlanif 20
  5. [SwitchA-Vlanif30] ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0
